Associate Dean Aaron Washington has humbly served Southern Connecticut State University for the last 20 years as a devoted professional. During his tenure Mr. Washington has impacted the lives of many students, faculty, and staff serving in the positions of Associate Director for Student Activities/Lyman Center, Assistant Director of Human Resources, and Director of the Multicultural Center.
Associate Dean Washington received his B.S in History, and a M.ED. in Student Personnel Administration from Tuskegee University. His professional associations include life member of Alpha Phi Omega National Service Fraternity, and life member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Incorporated, Regional Director of Tuskegee University National Alumni Association, board member for the New Haven Scholarship Foundation, and member of the NAACP New Haven Chapter.

Throughout his career at Southern Connecticut State University Associate Dean Washington has dedicated himself to assisting students and staff in all capacities and making the Multicultural Center a home away from home for all. He is a vital member of the Southern and the New Haven community whose passion for helping students, faculty, and staff excel has been contagious to all.

Mr. Washington enjoys basketball, football, tennis and movies as his personal hobbies.

Ms. Brown-Albert joined the professional staff of Southern Connecticut State University in 1997 as a residence hall director where she served admirably for nine years. Her dedication and commitment to students were prominent in her management of three residence halls and her leadership advising the Minority Pre-Law and Business Association, and the African Student Association. Curently, Ms. Brown-Albert is the Advisor for the West Indian Society and Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated.

As the Coordinator for Multicultural Student Activities since January 2007, Ms. Brown-Albert is responsible for planning and implementing multicultural programming for the SCSU and New Haven community. She also coordinates the operation and staffing of the Multicultural Center and supervises the book loan program. Ms. Brown-Albert is an alumni of Southern and holds a B.S in Liberal Studies and a M.S in Counseling. She truly strives to make the Multicultural Center a place where all students can explore their differences and exchange ideas. She is a Southern alumni, a charter member of the West Indian Academic Society, a former captain of the SCSU women's track team, and a former member of the Black Student Union.  Ms. Brown-Albert is a dedicated employee who is committed to the goal of making Southern the university of choice for all students.

Ms. Pettie has proudly served as the Multicultural Center Office Assistant since 2003. She brings to Southern her professional training in customer service and telephone sales. Ms. Pettie has a love for people and the arts that helps to promote a warm and inviting environment for the students at the Multicultural Center.  Ms. Pettie coordinates the book loan program, manages office operations, and takes pride in making sure that each student's needs are met. Ms. Pettie is a valuable member of the multicultural staff who is dedicated to assisting our students.

Ms. Martin joined the Multicultural Center(MCC) in the summer of 2007. Ms. Martin designs all of the advertising flyers, posters and banners for the MCC. In addition, Ms. Martin assists clubs and organizations with publicity and promotional materials for various events. Kathleen received her  B.S. in art with a concentration in graphic design from Southern Connecticut State University and has worked for both corporate and educational institutions as a graphic designer. Ms. Martin enjoys, karate, traveling, kick-boxing and yoga as her personal hobbies.

Ms. Brunell joined the Multicultural Center staff in the fall semester of 2007. Nicole is an English major and a junior at Southern Connecticut State University. She has devoted herself to her passion for Literature, Creative Writing, Poetry and Spoken-word since 2002, where she first studied at the Greater HartfordAcademy of the Arts as a Creative Writing Major. After graduating in 2005, she attended
Gateway Community College before transferring to SCSU in the spring of
2007. Since arriving at Southern, Nicole has dedicated herself to
promoting awareness and involvement both on campus and within the New
Haven community, taking the position of Community Service Committee
Chair for the National Association for the Advancement of Colored
People (NAACP). She hopes her involvement with the Multicultural Center
will help her to further advocate student unity through campus
consciousness and diversity.


In her spare time, Nicole also enjoys writing, traveling, hiking,
kayaking, and the arts.

 Moneeva, a Jamaican /Antigan American, joined the Multicultural Center in the fall semester of 2007. Moneeva is a sophomore at Southern Connecticut State University majoring in Communications Disorder. In 2006 she was an active member of the Black Student Union. Moneeva is a people person and loves meeting new people. She has a vast interest in student diversity which is one of the reasons she chose to work with the Multicultural Center. Moneeva enjoys tennis, volleyball, reading, writing, being with her family and friends, and working at the Multicultural Center.
