During the 2005-2006 academic year, the department

  • re-dedicated the Charles Garner Recital Hall with an evening of student and faculty performance;
  • sponsored master classes with Branford Marsalis and Terence Blanchard;
  • presented over two dozen concerts by our ensembles: Concert Band, Concert Choir, Chamber Singers, Jubilee Singers, Jazz Ensembles, and chamber groups;
  • celebrated the world premiere of Professor Mark Kuss' Concerto for Soprano Saxophone, which was commissioned by Branford Marsalis;
  • hosted a concert of North Indian music.
