2012 Distinguished Lecture
Fri., May 04
On Friday, May 4, 2012, at 7:30 p.m., Commander Mark Kelly will deliver the 14th
Mary and Louis Fusco Distinguished Lecture, "Gabby: A Story of Courage
and Hope," a reminder of the power of true grit, the patience needed to
overcome unimaginable obstacles, and the transcendence of love.
As
individuals, Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords and her husband, astronaut
Mark Kelly (right), showed Americans how optimism, an adventurous spirit and a
call to service can help change the world. As a couple, they became a
national example of the healing power to be found in deeply shared love
and courage, as Gabrielle began her long battle to recover from
traumatic brain injury.
The lecture will take place at the John Lyman Center for the Performing Arts (wheelchair accessible).
