arts & sciences alums to gather

student studying outsideTo honor the alumni of the School of Arts and Sciences and their many accomplishments, the Southern Connecticut State University Office of Alumni Relations will host an Alumni Celebration of the Arts and Sciences on Saturday, April 12, from 8:30 a.m.-4:15 p.m.

The day's events will include open houses in academic departments of the School of Arts and Sciences, a "Meet the Southern Authors" booksigning event, and an array of seminars featuring presentations and workshops given by members of the arts and sciences faculty. Seminar topics include "Make Your Own Kind of Music" with Music Department Chairman Jonathan Irving; "How Healthy is Long Island Sound?" with Vincent Breslin, associate professor of science education and environmental studies; "Fighting Cancer in the Southern Labs" with Sarah Crawford, associate professor of biology; and "The Upcoming Presidential Election Unraveled" with Arthur Paulson, professor of political science.

Alumni will conclude their campus visit with a cocktail party and children's snack party as well as performances by current SCSU students and faculty.

Arts and sciences alumni and their families will attend the celebration free of charge; guests' only expense for the entire event will be the cost of lunch in the Michael J. Adanti Student Center.
