scsu hosts girls & women in sport day

girls and women in sport dayThe Southern Connecticut State University Athletic Department and the Office of Institutional Advancement have announced that they will host "Girls and Women in Sport" Day on Saturday, Jan. 24, in conjunction with the Owls' women's basketball game against the College of Saint Rose.

Note: Any youngsters in grades 1-8 that are affiliated with members of the campus community will receive priority registration and a guaranteed spot at the 2009 Girls and Women in Sport Day if they sign up prior to Jan. 1.

The day will begin at 9:15 a.m. with registration. Participants will then take part in a variety of sports at clinic stations from 9:45 a.m.-12 p.m. A speaker will then address the audience from 12-12:30 p.m., followed by a complimentary lunch at 12:30 p.m.

girls and women in sportFollowing lunch, the participants will have an opportunity to meet with and receive autographs from all of the Southern Connecticut State University student-athletes in attendance as clinicians.

That session will lead directly into the women's basketball game at 1:30 p.m.

All participants must wear sneakers and athletic clothing and bring a water bottle. Registration is limited to the first 250 female participants in grades 1-8 that have submitted signed both a registration form and an assumption of risk form.
