green expo

Southern Connecticut State University will host the 2008 Connecticut Green Expo on Sunday, Sept. 14, from 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. The Expo will feature information about environmentally friendly transportation; sustainable food production; education and political action initiatives for statewide and global sustainability; clean energy, air, and water; and consumer products to support a greener lifestyle.  Attendees will be able to sign up for clean energy and learn about a wide range of issues that impact climate change and sustainable living. In addition to the environmental exhibitors, there will be an afternoon of free family-oriented music and entertainment.

The focus of the Green Expo is One Planet, Many Choices. Its mission is to show solutions available today for clean energy, green transportation, good food, clean air and water, waste reduction, and sensible residential living. The Expo aims to educate by showing solutions, but also strives to promote interest and excitement about seizing these opportunities to promote long-term community and planetary health and well being.

New this year will be the Walk of Discovery, where exhibitors are encouraged to provide hands-on experiences that will educate and inspire Expo attendees to return home with concrete ideas to make changes in their lives.

The Green Expo is part of the four-day Connecticut Folk Festival that will present numerous nationally recognized musical acts in a series of free and ticketed outdoor and indoor concerts on September 12-14, 2008, at various locations in New Haven.
