Faculty Development is teaming up with the FYE Program and the Writing Across the Curriculum Committee to conduct the SCSU Teaching Academy to be held June 9 - June 11, 2008.  This intensive conference is targeted to the needs and interests of faculty teaching INQ, LINKS, and Honors students, and faculty teaching students in Writing Across the Curriculum courses.  Faculty teaching students in "clustered courses" and "Freshmen Only" courses are also encouraged to participate.

marshall gregoryKeynote speakers include Dr. Doug Hesse (University of Denver) on "Writing Across the Curriculum," Dr. Marshall Gregory (Butler University, pictured at left) on "Facilitating Ethical Learning," and Dr. Barbara Millis (University of Nevada, Reno) on "Designing Courses for More Significant Learning."  Several breakout workshops on FYE issues, writing across the curriculum, student learning, course design, and effective teaching strategies will be offered.  Participants will also be able to enjoy meals and refreshments, publishers' book fairs, interdisciplinary exchanges, and a stipend for successful completion of the three-day conference.
