the big read comes to southern

Southern Connecticut State University is participating in The Big Read-Greater New Haven, which is co-presented by The International Festival of Arts and Ideas and the Connecticut Library Consortium. The book for this year's Big Read is Ray Bradbury's Fahrenheit 451.
The following Big Read events will take place on Southern's campus:
Fahrenheit 451: A Book Panel Discussion will be held on Monday, April 21, in Engleman Hall B121 A&B, from 1 - 2:30 p.m. Southern faculty on the panel are Will Hochman (English), Tricia Lin (Women's Studies), Wes O'Brien (Media Studies), Troy Paddock (History), and Jacqueline Toce (Library Services). An open discussion and refreshments will follow.
Fahrenheit 451: A Film Presentation will feature a free screening of the film version of the book on Thursday, April 24, in Engleman Hall A120, 7:30 - 10:30 p.m. An open discussion and refreshments will follow. The screening will be co-hosted by David Pettigrew (Philosophy) and Hing Wu (Library Services).
The Big Read is an initiative of the National Endowment for the Arts in partnership with the Institute of Museum and Library Services and Arts Midwest, designed to revitalize the role of literature in American culture and bring the transformative power of literature into the lives of its citizens. The Big Read brings together partners across the country to encourage its citizens to read for pleasure and enlightenment.
