students at commencementThe university will hold its undergraduate commencement ceremony on Friday, May 18, 2012, at the Webster Bank Arena, 600 Main Street, in Bridgeport, beginning with an academic procession at 10:15 a.m.  Full details are available at www.southernct.edu/commencement.

Located about 25 minutes from campus, the fully air-conditioned indoor arena can seat up to 7,000 guests. The arena is wheelchair-accessible and will provide services for guests with disabilities. The arena is easily accessed from I-95 and the Merritt Parkway. A Metro-North Station is also within easy walking distance. 
This year, due to the arena's fixed capacity, guest tickets will be required.
 
Candidates wishing to participate in commencement who have successfully completed all of their degree requirements must pick up their reader card and guest tickets. Deadline for pick up is April 21.  ALL GUESTS ARE ALSO REQUIRED TO HAVE A TICKET.
 
Tickets will be distributed at the Adanti Student Center (see schedule below). EACH CANDIDATE WILL RECEIVE UP TO FOUR GUEST TICKETS - if additional tickets are available after the initial allocation they will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.
 
TICKET AND READER CARD DISTRIBUTION SCHEDULE:
 

  • Tuesday, April 17 and Wednesday, April 18
    10 a.m. to 6 p.m. - Adanti Student Center Ballroom pre-function area

  • Thursday, April 19 and Friday, April 20
    10 a.m. to 6 p.m. - Adanti Student Center Information Desk
     
  • Saturday, April 21
    10 a.m. to 4 p.m. - Adanti Student Center Information Desk

 
Students who request additional tickets at the pick-up dates above will be notified by email regarding the distribution of these tickets.
 
CAP AND GOWN DISTRIBUTION SCHEDULE:
 
Candidates for the bachelor's degree must purchase a cap and gown at the university bookstore in order to participate in the ceremony. Caps and gowns will be available beginning Friday, April 9th, and cost $40.98. Bookstore hours are Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
