Nurse Educator Certificate Program

Nurse Educator Certificate Program: The Certificate in Nursing Education is for masters prepared nurses interested in developing the knowledge and skill needed to teach nursing. This two course, nine credit program prepares the experienced nurse with knowledge of curriculum development, teaching and evaluation strategies. Offered on-line over two semesters, students learn to develop course syllabi, individual classes and evaluation tools. Both classroom and clinical teaching strategies are discussed.  Twelve hours per week of clinical experience is required in the second semester. Students work with an experienced preceptor, in the clinical area and educational model of their choice, to experience first hand the role of a faculty member, staff development educator, or patient educator.

Students interested in this certificate program should be registered nurses prepared at the MSN level. Application is made through the School of Graduate Studies . Applicants must meet all School of Graduate Studies and Department of Nursing admission requirements In addition candidates must comply with the Department of Nursing's health, malpractice, CPR and licensure requirements.
