Advisement and Registration of Classes

Image of NursingAs a Pre-Nursing student*, when you register for fall and spring classes you will need to obtain a new PIN number each semester.  These numbers are only available by making an appointment with your advisor or one of the Nursing Advising Assistants.  On the bulletin board outside of Jennings 135, appointment sign-up sheets will be posted (usually in October and March). At that appointment, you will go over your current courses and make a draft of the courses you should take the following semester.  Also, you will be given your PIN number so that you can register for classes.

When you come to meet with one of the Pre-Nursing Advisors, bring with you a current copy of your "Detailed Requirements."  This is available through Banner by using the following directions:

  • Log in to BannerWeb
  • Select "Student Services and Financial Aid"
  • Select "Student Records"
  • Select "Degree Evaluation"
  • Select "Last Completed Term" - then "Generate New Evaluation" (at bottom of page)
  • Click in the circle next to "Program"
  • Select "Last Completed Term"
  • Click "Generate Request"
  • Click "Detail Requirements"
  • Submit

This evaluation will show you all the classes you have taken and those that you still need in order to fulfill the requirements of your major.

Also, bring with you the Student Worksheet (will be available outside of Jennings 135 or click on Student Worksheet (doc) and follow link to download) indicating the courses you are planning to take the following semester.

The date for your registration of classes depends on your status (i.e., freshman, sophomore, etc.).  These dates are in the Southern catalog, and you will receive notification from the registrar.

*Pre-nursing Student is defined as an individual who upon admittance to the university declared him or herself as a Pre-nursing major but has not yet applied to or been accepted into the Nursing Program.

Faculty members are available to speak with pre-nursing students about academic concerns related to their courses in their intended field of study.
