Honors College Learning Community

Academically superior students may be invited to participate in the Honors College. Courses in the Honors College are team-taught and interdisciplinary, organized around themes and questions common to many disciplines. Honors College students are encouraged to develop their abilities to interpret and analyze through the technique of lively, interdisciplinary interchange, learning to discover underlying structures of knowledge in all areas of study.

During first semester, Honors College students will take two courses together as a learning community: HON 150: Introduction to Critical Inquiry, and HON 280: Research Act: Encounter of Theory & Fact.

Participation in the Honors College is by invitation only. However, some students who do very well in their first semester at Southern are given an opportunity to join in their second semester.
