Exchange accounts provide email, calendaring and scheduling, and other administrative activities (e.g., contact lists, to-do lists, tasks) for faculty and staff. OIT supports the Microsoft Outlook (on Windows machines) and Entourage (on Macs) email clients for access to Exchange accounts.
New faculty and staff will be given an Exchange account when they arrive on campus. The Exchange account shares the same username and password with Windows account.
Request an Exchange account
Hourly employees and student workers may request an Exchange account via supervisors or faculty sponsors. The request should be submitted to OIT Help Desk.
All requests need to meet the following criteria:
- The email request is sent from the sponsor's account.
- The message clearly states the request for an Exchange account.
- The request includes the new account holder's username and university status.
Note: Requests cannot be processed if any of the above information is missing.
Exchange Migration
SCSU is currently migrating all faculty and staff to Exchange 2007 as its email and groupware solution for the campus. This move is part of a CSU wide migration to a common unified communications system for the CSU system.
You will be notified of the exact date and time of your Exchange migration. An OIT technical staff member will be available to configure Outlook 2007 (or Entourage 2008) for your new Exchange account. Any remaining calendar items, contacts, tasks, etc. will be moved to your Exchange account. Instructions will be available on using Outlook 2007 to access both your new Exchange email, as well as your emails on old email systems. Instructions will also be available on how to access Exchange through Outlook Web Access (OWA). In addition, training staff will be available for one-on-one training and individual support.
