The OWLS Suite is a collection of web-based services brought to you by a collaboration between SCSU and Microsoft. The suite includes services such as: OWLS Mail, Southern's new student e-mail system; Office Live, a document collaboration tool; and SkyDrive, an online file storage service.
Office Live Workspace
Office Live Workspace is part of Microsoft's Windows Live range of online services. A workspace is a free online storage place where you can save, access, and share documents (such as Office Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and files. Use it to group related information for work, school, or personal projects. Online collaboration and sharing is easy - all you need is a person's email address and you can invite them to your workspace. You decide if they can edit or simply review. You can access your workspace from any computer with an Internet connection and a Web browser. Office Live offers:
- Storage: View and share password-protected files (up to 5 GB) without losing control.
- Sharing: Work together with others on the same files
- Familiarity: Open and save files from familiar programs like Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Convenience: Manage documents in one convenient place
- Flexibility: Eliminate flash drives
- Access: View documents from almost any computer
How to Access SkyDrive
Once you have activated your OWLS Mail, you may acess Office Live Workspace directly. You may also follow the steps listed below to access Office Live Workspace:
- Log into OWLS
- Click on More from the title bar and select Office Live
- Click on Help in the upper right corner for instructions on how to view and share files.
To use the drag-and-drop feature of Office Live Workspace to upload files, you must install the Windows Live Upload Tool. To install the Windows Live Upload Tool, your operating system must be Windows XP with Service Pack 3, Windows XP with Service Pack 2 (SP2), Windows Vista, or Windows Server 2003, and your Internet browser must be Microsoft Internet Explorer 6 or a later version.
