When you are off-campus, in order to transfer files in to your network
storage, you need to use the Network Connect VPN (Virtual Private Network).
- Go to the remote.southernct.edu webpage
- Sign in using your Windows Username and password.
This is the password that you use to sign in to a computer on campus. If you have never signed in to a computer on campus, or are a distant learning student that cannot come to campus, please call the SCSU Help Desk. Please be aware that you will need to have your Username, Id number, Date of Birth, and other information available for identity verification purposes.
- Once you have signed in to Remote, you will see an option for Network Connect.
- Click on Network Connect.
- If this is your first time running Network Connect, you will be prompted to install the Network Connect application on your computer, which you must agree to.
- If you are using Internet Explorer 7.0, please read the
VPN with IE7.
- Once you have successfully connected to the VPN (Virtual Private Network), you can proceed to use whatever Secure FTP application you are using.
- SFTP authenticates against your MySCSU username and password. When you are prompted to log in to your SFTP area, make sure you are using the correct set of credentials.
- If your username and password do not work for SFTP, please call the HelpDesk. You will also have to provide your Username, ID number, Date of Birth and other information for identity verification purposes.
SFTP into Web Space
Each member of the university is provided with a
web space. This is a space that is unique to each individual. When a
user is logged into a University machine, they can easily access their
space by going to My Computer and selecting the U drive.
You can also SFTP into your web space when off campus and access the 50mb that is provided to you for publishing documentation on the World Wide Web. See Web Publishing for more information
