About Cisco NAC
Cisco NAC is a endpoint security tool designed to provide our wireless users with safer access to the Internet. Computer viruses are a serious threat to the network; a virus attack on a single computer is capable of infecting the entire network and disrupting network services for everyone. With the vast array of virus outbreaks today, it is imperative that your computer is patched and running proper virus protection. For this reason, all Windows-based computers connecting to the residential network are required to run the NAC Agent. Cisco NAC verifies that your computer has proper updates (patches) and virus protection, ensuring that your computer is safe to be on the network. While connected to the residential network, the Cisco NAC Agent will remain behind the scenes protecting your computer and the network. The Agent will rescan your computer once per week and every time you reboot your computer. Each time you log in, the NAC Agent will scan your computer for the proper virus protection. If at any time your computer does not meet the specified requirements, you will be granted temporary and restricted access to allow you time to satisfy these requirements.

Requirements
Users of the SouthernCT and SouthernCT-ResHalls wireless networks with Windows XP, Windows Vista or Windows 7 MUST install the Cisco NAC Agent prior to using the Internet. The Agent will verify your computer meets the minimum requirements before allowing access. Below is a description of the requirements...
- Antivirus Software Installed - Windows-based computers must have antivirus software installed on the computer. Please refer to this guide for a list of supported antivirus software packages.
- Antivirus Software Updated - The installed antivirus software must be updated to the latest virus definitions file. If the Agent detects an outdated antivirus software package, it will attempt to update it automatically. Should it fail to update, you will be required to update it manually using the programs update feature.
