Computer Recommendation

Any modern computer will work with most of the services offered by the Office of Information Technology. To access the Internet at SCSU, the minimum hardware requirements are as follows:

  • Windows XP or Mac OS X 10.5 or higher
  • 1GB of RAM or higher
  • 1.5GH 32-bit or 64-bit processor
  • Network/wireless card
  • 128MB of graphic memory
  • DVD-ROM media drive
  • 60GB of disk storage or higher

Since OIT does not support personally-owned computers, we strongly urge the students to purchase additional manufacturer warranty.

Do not purchase anti-virus software or Microsoft Office with your new computer.  As a member of SCSU community, you will receive these software applications for free.
