SOUTHERN ON THE MOVE
FITNESS CHALLENGE

 

What is it?

The Southern On the Move Fitness Challenge is a 6 week challenge to exercise more regularly!  It is an opportunity to start and live a more active lifestyle for FREE!

Starts Thursday 2/4 and ends Wednesday 3/17 (just before spring break!)


Choose a goal: To reach 1,000 points or 800 points in 6 weeks.

Each minute of exercise is worth 1 point, and bonus point opportunities (like 10 points for attending a group walk) will be available each week to help you reach your goal, even during your busiest week.

 

WHO IS ELIGIBLE?

All SCSU students, faculty and staff.

 

REGISTRATION FOR 2010 IS CLOSED. CHECK BACK NEXT SEMESTER for a NEW CHALLENGE!


Either REGISTER ONLINE or stop by the SCSU Fitness Center (2nd floor, Adanti Student Center or attend the Kick Off Walk on 2/4/10 at 12:30pm at the Moore Field House.


DISCLAIMER: This program is for apparently healthy adults.  If you cannot maintain a brisk walk (moderate intensity exercise) or know of any health condition you currently have, you should NOT participate in this challenge.  Instead seek guidance from your physician on what physical activity, if any, is appropriate for you.  Use this SELF GUIDED Physical Activity Readiness questionnaire before engaging in any exercise program.

Frequently Asked Questions:

 

Q: I'm afraid I will  lose my exercise tracking sheet, what should I do?

A: Join http://411fit.uncc.edu/411fit/groups/scsu  for FREE and track your exercise and nutrition.  Then at the end, you can refer back to the site and copy your exercise time & type on your tracking sheet.  411fit will also send you updates, reminding you to log in which might also help keep you on track!

 

Q: My 411fit emails me EVERY DAY. How can i stop this?

A: Edit your preferences on the site, you can ask for no reminders, a reminder to log in every 1, 3, or 7 days.

 

Q: I am no where NEAR the 800 points I challenged myself to earn. Should I just quit?

A: Don't quit! Check www.southernct.edu/onthemove for bonus point opportunities & try to get back on track.  You made a committment to yourself- you can do it!  If you are still having trouble, email us at onthemove@southernct.edu and maybe we can help.

Don't forget, just turning in your challenge tracker gets you 25 points!

 

Q: What are the prizes I have the chance to win if I finish the challenge?

A: We are trying to get a t-shirt for every challenger that finishes. If not, we will have prize raffles for fitness equipment, apparel and fitness center memberships.  REMEMBER you must complete & turn in your exercise tracker before 3/22/10 in order to 'complete' the challenge. You also get 25 bonus points for turning it in!
