TAKE THE STAIRS!

If you are able to take the stairs we encourage you to do so! As you travel around campus, try to use the elevator less and take the stairs more often. Some research shows that intermittent stair climbing can improve fitness levels! Click here for the article.

Look for signs like these reminding you to take the stairs. A special thanks to Marketing major Christine Sumecki for designing the posters and 'take the stairs' signs for this program.

Do you have bad knees or other health problems that prevent you from taking the stairs?

That's ok! Only do what you feel you can or what your physician has recommended for you.  The most important thing is to stay healthy.  If you can't take the stairs, try to find other ways to incorporate more physical activity into your day:

  • Park further away
  • Swimming/walking in water
  • Stationary cycling
  • Weight lifting (upper body only or total body)
  • Calisthenics
  • Wii interactive video games (limit video game playing that requires sitting & thumbs only)

*If you have a vision/mobility/balance impairment please use the elevator as needed.
