The eleventh meeting of the 2004-2005 year was called
to order at 12:10 PM.
The minutes of March 9th, 2005 were approved.

President’s Report:
The president’s report was distributed. President DaPonte highlighted the following:
- President
DaPonte reported that he and Senator Diamantis met with President Norton regarding senate
resolution F-04-03.
- President
DaPonte reported that funds have been
transferred to the full-time travel account from the retraining account.
- The
Undergraduate Commencement Committee has made a change in faculty seating
at commencement to encourage more faculty to
attend.
UCF Update – Joe Fields
- The
UCF ratified the General Education Taskforce Goals Document.

- There
is now $8877 in the full-time travel fund account.

- The
committee noted that the IT survey that was just circulated across campus
should be completed by March 17th.
- Academic
Policy Committee

- The
ballots for the all university committee elections wi9ll be finalized at the next meeting.
Old Business:
- The Building
Hours Resolution was introduced by Senator Pettigrew and Senator
Johnson. Following discussion and the acceptance of some friendly
amendments, the resolution passed with two abstentions and one nay.
- Consideration
of the Resolution in support of HR 5681 was postponed until the
next meeting.
New Business:
- The UCF’s new and revised constitution was brought forth
for senate approval. The question was called and the there being no
objections, the vote was called. The UCF Constitution was
approved with five abstentions.
- A
discussion was held on the emergency evacuation of the campus and the need
for an emergency evacuation plan. Following discussion, President DaPonte asked for a sense of the senate straw vote on
the need for a local and regional evacuation plan. The straw vote
was unanimous in support of the need for an emergency evacuation
plan. President DaPonte will discuss this
with President Norton.
- Senator
Madison discussed problems encountered by faculty teaching early morning
and late afternoon or evening classes when a faculty member needs to
cancel one of these classes and there is no one in the office to notify
students. Suggestions included contacting the campus police who will
post notices, using email, and phone recordings. President DaPonte has referred this to the Academic Policy
Committee for their consideration.
The senate adjourned at 1:55 PM.
