The fourteenth meeting of the 2007-2008 year was called to order at 12:10 PM.

The minutes of April 16, 2008, were approved.

President’s Report: None at this time
Standing Committee Reports”
Only two standing committees’ reports:
Finance: Senator Brucker announced that there are still money available for faculty to submit travel authorization forms for traveling.
Elections: Senator Swartz announced that there will be elections for three seats for the General Education Task Force before the end of this semester.
At this time, President Johnson requested a motion to postpone all other Committee Reports and move to Old Business: P & T Document. The motion was approved unanimously and Senator Cusato commenced discussions on the P & T revisions.
The first item was the choice of two options on the P & T Committee membership:
Option I – Keeping Associate Level
Option II – New Language, Requiring all P & T Committee members to be at the level of professor.
After lengthy discussion, the question was called and passed unanimously.
Motion to accept Option 2 resulted in 12 yes, 25 no, 4 abstentions. The motion was defeated.
Discussion continued. Item 6. Procedures of the Committee: part g, new language added: Committee members from the candidate’s department are allowed to vote, but must recuse themselves from the interview and deliberations..
Motion to accept new language resulted in 20 yes, 11 no, 6 abstentions. New language was approved.
After discussing further revision of the P & T document, the question was called. It was passed unanimously.
Motion to accept the P & T document revisions as presented, resulted in 33 yes, 1 no, and 1 abstention. The P & T document revisions passed as presented.
The Senate adjourned at 1:45 pm.
