This will be reviewed with the deans over the next two weeks.
The decisions will be returned to the Deans by the end of October.
The recommendations will be forwarded to Dr. Cibes on October 20.
This in turn will be on the agenda for the BOT meeting in November Vice President Pinciaro was going to leave the present meeting to seek permission to start the searches "subject to funding".
SCSU hired 34 faculty this year, 25 full time and 9 special appointments. CCSU hired 43 special appointments. Some of those replaced ERIP'S. They only had three ERIP return to teach, we had 35 of our 43 come back. Two of our ERIP had announced their retirement before the ERIP was announced so they were replaced with special appointments.
$125,000 was requested to initiate the searches for the 52 positions we intend to fill.
Executive Committee Report
B. Jirsa was appointed to the search committee for Graduate Dean.
The time line for travel authorization will be corrected to allow for the verification of the availability of funds before all of the signatures are applied.
The executive committee discussed Jim Newman's replacement for coordinator of Faculty Development. Jim will come to an executive committee meeting in the near future.
Joe Brignola was invited to come to the October 22 Faculty Senate meeting.
The 4 day class schedule was not well received and is a dormant issue.
The School of Business Strategic Plan does fit within the University's Strategic Plan. It is a three year plan based on accreditation issues.
President Adanti has said he will consult with the Faculty Senate before any reallocation of faculty lines.
We need to appoint Faculty Senate reps to the following search committees, VP Student and University Affairs, VP Institutional Advancement, Chief Information Officer, and Director of Continuing Education.

Whereas we further recognize the value of distance learning to enhance student access to learning and
Whereas we recognize the importance of student faculty interaction.
Therefore be it resolved that departments may set limits on the inclusion of distance learning courses that may be used to fulfill requirements in a student's overall program, and/or as part of the required courses in the student's major, and/or as part of the cognate area of the student's major and
Therefore be it further resolved that departments may decide whether a specific distance learning course is accepted as part of a student's program.
A motion was made to insert "in their discipline" after "course" in the second
"therefore". Because the experts are in the department of the course not the major. This motion was defeated 13-14.
Motion to call the question passes 15 for 7 against.
The motion fails 11 for, 14 against
The concept was referred back to committee.
Elections: Self nominations have been sent out. Because of small returns the deadline will be extended to 10115. Please ask your constituents to consider filling a committee position

Announcements
There will be an all day symposium 10/17 to mark the 10th anniversary of the October 1987 stock market crash.
Old Business
Larry Glenn reports that the BOT feels all faculty that need a computer have one.
New Business
Faculty Development Advisory Committee representative from the Faculty Senate is Jim Fullmer.
The Search committee members will be appointed by the Senate President and Executive Committee.
