The Deception of Heaven
     is Hell’s Masquerade

Complexity of my life
Where are you now?
Undoubtedly where I am not

Your uncertainty, my attraction
My aloofness, your challenge
Never on the same page are we

Yet at the same time
Too close and too distant
Knowing it will never truly be

Where is the comfort in that?
This attraction, so real
Unspoken understanding of what we both feel

What makes it so good makes it so bad
And will always destroy what we think we may have

Perfect in a way
Yet lacking as well
When good it is heaven
When bad it is hell

Energy builds a palace divine
Only destroyed by the passage of time

Never truly away

Yet distant, apart
Distraction of the mind conceals the heart

Will the disguises ever cease?
An end to the charade
Doubtful to me
Attraction is our masquerade

To truly know the other seems not the desire
Eternal longing, enigmatic fire
There is comfort in our distance

Do not come too far in
Dare you see all of me
Better when we are what we make the other see

No deception involved
Unspoken, understood
Our heaven is bad
Our hell is good
