About the Review

Overview:

The Honors Review is an art and literary journal which showcases the best work of the Honors College students at Southern Connecticut State University. This webpage presents these works for the public to enjoy, but respects that all works are the property of their respective creators. No part of this publication may be reproduced in any form without written permission from The Honors Review. For more information, please contact the Honors College Coordinator at Southern Connecticut State University, 501 Crescent Street, New Haven, CT 06515.

Submissions:

The Honors Review is now accepting submissions of nonfiction, fiction, poetry, and visual art for the 2006 issue. Submission guidelines and cover sheets are available in the Honors Office and the English Department as well as being emailed to Honors students. Beginning this year, all submissions must be made on 3.5” diskettes, compact disc, or electronically (in Word or a compatible file format). Send submissions to The Honors Review's faculty advisor, Dana Sonnenschein: mailbox in Engleman D 265, office in Engleman D 237, or by e-mail to dana.sonnenschein@sbcglobal.net or sonnensched1@southernct.edu.

Policies:

Submissions are processed by the organization’s advisor, read anonymously, and selected by vote of the Editorial Board, so the creator’s name should not appear anywhere on the work itself. No editor judges his or her own work. Because of financial constraints, the size of the Review has been restricted, and we are unable to print an internal color section. Some years, in order to stay within our page limit, we have published abstracts and/or selections when an accepted work of nonfiction was over 10 pages long. Full texts and artwork are available on this website.

The creator of each work grants and consigns to the Honors Review the right to publish the work, to distribute copies of the Honors Review containing the work to the public, to reproduce the work in electronic form (i.e., to post it at the Honors Review website), and to register copyright in the name of the Board of Trustees of the Connecticut State University System.  After a creator's work appears in the Honors Review , the copyright reverts to the creator.  If that work is published again, we ask that a credit line indicate that it first appeared in the Honors Review.

Errata:

"What happened to 2003?" Unfortunately, due to both financial and logistical constraints, there was no published version of The Honors Review in 2003. Because of this, the 2004 issue contains work accepted for both the 2003 and 2004 issues.
