Equity of Access: Adaptive Technology

Frances S. Grodzinsky

Video Text – Conclusion

Equity of Access – Adaptive Technology:
Conclusion
by Frances S. Grodzinsky of Sacred Heart University

“Given that about 19% of the population is effected with disabilities, it really is imperative that we start early on in the classroom to empower these people so that they’re able to meet education on an equal footing and be part of a creative workforce out there. As more and more of us use computers, the incidents of repetitive strain injury might increase and we might find ourselves one day a member of this particular group. So from just purely a selfish point of view, it probably would be a very good idea to support the idea that adaptive or assistive devices for people with disabilities is not a luxury but a necessity – especially in the university setting.”

Art direction, digital photography, and editing by Margaret E. Tehan.
