Realities of Teaching Social and Ethical Issues in Computing Doris Keefe Lidtke
The course outline presented early on by Horowitz, Morgan and Shaw covers the important topics. As the field of computing science has developed there are necessarily changes in the details of the topics covered, but essentially it is necessary for our students to understand the impact of the work they are doing, what are their responsibilities to themselves, their employers, the users of the products they develop, and to society at large. Students must also be equipped to make value judgment about what they should and what they should not do as computer professionals.
