Meeting Cancellation and COSGA

Our weekly meeting is cancelled for Friday, February 27th, 2009. This week our executive board and board chairs are representing Southern at the Conference on Student Government Associations hosted by Texas A&M University. Goodluck to our delegates, make us look good and learn a lot!

Twenty-eight years ago, a group of student leaders at Texas A&M University felt the need for a conference that would bring student leaders together to share information and experiences concerning their respective schools. As a result, in 1981, Texas A&M hosted the first annual Conference on Student Government Associations (COSGA). Each year since its inception, the conference has grown in both size and scope. COSGA is now the largest student run conference of its kind. Last year’s conference welcomed over 550 delegates from institutions across the nation. The purpose of COSGA is to provide a conference which focuses on the needs of student leaders, more specifically, those of student government. To fulfill this purpose, COSGA uses a variety of tools: expert speakers, workshops, and roundtable discussions of groups.
