student with her father at orientationDear Parents/Guardians of New Students,

You may be asking yourself what you can do to support your son's or daughter's transition from high school to college.  Making the decision to attend the Parents' Orientation Program is the first step.

The Parents' Orientation Program, which runs concurrently with the New Student Orientation, is designed to provide you with important information about Southern, its academic programs, student support services, financial aid and payment policies, rhythms of college life, unique challenges for new students, and many other topics. Members of the administration, faculty, staff, and student leaders will be on hand to answer all your questions and help guide you, too, through your child's transition from high school to college life.  Breakfast, lunch, and refreshments will be included in the day's agenda. We also will host a Resource Fair that you may peruse for more detailed information on all the services available to Southern students.

Thank you to those parents who have accepted our invitation to join us for the Parents' Orientation! Those who have not yet accepted should speak to your son/daughter and determine which of the dates on which he/she has chosen to attend Orientation so that you may attend with him/her.

If you have any questions about Parents' Orientation events, please call the Office of Student Life at (203) 392-5782 or e-mail orientation@southernct.edu.

Thank you for your interest.
