is a very useful set of resources from the HTML Writers Guild.

W3Schools
This is a wonderful site for learning about several aspects of Web page design
and creation. There are tutorials introducing you to HTML, XHTML and CSS2
(Cascading Style Sheets), among several other topics. The beauty of these
step-by-step tutorials is that you can immediately see real examples that
illustrate the topic under discussion. Highly recommended.
Macromedia
Dreamweaver Web Site
gives the latest information on Dreamweaver, including software updates,
service and support. You will also find access to “extensions,” which
extend the capability of the base program. Here you will find the extension
that will check your site for accessibility issues. Another extremely useful
(and free!) extension is the Coursebuilder extension. This extension will
allow you to create various quiz materials.
Lynda Weinman Training
This is Lynda Weinman's home page. Lynda runs the Digital Arts Center
in Ojai, California, where she and her staff offer numerous workshops on
computer programs. Lynda is a pioneer in web development, and has written
several books dealing with HTML, Web Graphics, and Web and Graphics Development
tools. Garo Green is an instructor at the Digital Arts Center. He has authored Dreamweaver
MX: Hands-On-Training, which is our textbook. Check out the other
titles on this web site.

Excellent examples of different kinds of effects possible with styles.
Eric is the author of several books on Cascading Style Sheets and is regarded

This is a sizeable set of on-line resources, but it is only a small fraction of what is available. As you start surfing these sites, you will encounter many more. And even as you read the brief descriptions in this list, you will see references to many topics that this brief primer hasn't even touched on. It is amazing how much is available on the World Wide Web, and how much of it is free.
