COUNCIL ON INTEGRATED TEACHER EDUCATION
One of the objectives of the project was to establish
a CITE Committee to form a collaborative, inter-departmental/inter-school
and community-based coordinating committee to assist the project
directors in achieving the stated goals and objectives of the Unification
of Teacher Preparatory Program.
CITE Committee Roles and Activities:
CITE committee members fulfill many roles including reviewing
the progress of the project, advising the project director and project
coordinators on grant tasks and activities and serve on subcommittees
convened to address specific grant activities. CITE participants
are also active participants in project related workshops concerning
differentiated instruction and meeting the needs of diverse learners.
It is expected that this Council will serve as the
catalyst for blending the preparation of future elementary and special
education teachers within an integrated preparatory framework. It
is expected that this integrated approach will improve the preparation
of students for university requirements, increase the diversity
of university applicants, improve the utilization of technology
in teacher preparation, increase skills in using various methods
of instruction for diverse learners, and demonstrate the integration
of various content areas of University Requirements into their preparation
programs.
CITE committee membership includes university (faculty from the
School of Education, faculty from the School of Arts and Sciences,
undergraduate and graduate students) and community membership (Elementary
and Secondary school teachers, a school Superintendent, parent of
a special needs child, undergraduate student disabilities advocate).
A brief biography and contact information is provided for each of
the members of the CITE committee.
