One of the overall goals of the Unification of Teacher Preparation Program Grant is to enable both university faculty and classroom teachers use research-based strategies to meet the needs of a diverse array of learners. The following websites provide excellent resources to assist faculty and teachers in meeting this goal:

American Association of Colleges of Teacher Education (AACTE)
This website provides links to a variety of educational initiatives including diversity, standards and practices, and accreditation.

This link from the AACTE website provides information and resources for teachers on teaching in diverse classrooms. Good information on projects for qualified teachers for diverse learners.

Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development
This site provides resources for teachers, administrators, and faculty in a variety of topics regarding the instruction of diverse learners including Differentiated Instruction, classroom management, and success for all learners.

Council for Exceptional Children
This site offers a variety of resources for instruction of students with disabilities. Various divisions represent specialty areas including teacher education. Provides information about legislation and policy changes.

St. Joseph College has a unification grant
The website provides information about their unification projects. Although St. Joseph is very different from Southern Connecticut State University, and their project design is also different, the goals of both projects are very similar. The site provides information about their project design.

University of Connecticut’s Universal Design for Instruction Project
This site provides faculty resources to enhance the design and delivery of instruction to students with disabilities.

This site features the Faculty Room with resources for universal design for instruction and classroom accommodations.

Huntington College has provided resources to assist teacher education candidates in lesson planning including examples of scaffolding instruction for student support.

The Iris Center for Faculty Enhancement at Vanderbilt University is funded by the U.S. Department of Education. The center provides numerous resources for general education teachers and related services personnel to meet the needs of students with disabilities and their families. The site includes and extensive, web-based resource directory that allows very specific searches for web resources. The site also features the “Star Legacy” online instructional modules for use by faculty instructing teacher candidates. The modules include scenarios and suggestions for a variety of classroom situations.

The Center for Applied Special Technology
This site provides many resources for college faculty and classroom teachers in eliminating barriers for students with disabilities through the use of assistive technology. While the information is useful in teaching learners with disabilities, it is pertinent for all learners. Includes information and resources on Universal Design for Learning and Assessment, using brain research and media technologies to respond to individual learner differences.

The Center for Applied Special Technology link to the National Center on Accessing the General Education Curriculum. This site provides information on the use of Differentiated Instruction, along with many resources for teachers.

Southern Connecticut State University’s Center for Adaptive Technology
This site provides information on the many assistive technology resources available on Southern Connecticut State University campus for students with disabilities. While the main mission of the CAT is to services Southern Connecticut State University students, assistive technology evaluations and consultations are available to the public.

West Virginia University Inclusion in Science Education for Students with Disabilities. This site presents accommodation and inclusion strategies for students with disabilities. Topics include teaching strategies, learning environments and assistive/ adaptive technologies. All of the strategies have been found to assist students with disabilities in their academic pursuits. Eight general types of disabilities are presented across six science teaching methods, viz., teacher presentation, laboratory, field, reading, discussion, and research. Some 800 teaching strategies are presented.
