Fall 2004 English 098 Portfolio Assessment Group Dates and Procedures

Midterm norming session: TBA.

Model essays will be solicited and distributed in advance.

Final Portfolio Assessment: Friday, December 10^th 2:00-4:00pm,

English Department Library

Studentsπ final portfolio should have the following baseline contents to be considered for English 100 placement:

• Presentation-quality final drafts of at least two 3+ page essays
• Representative evidence of drafting, revision, and editing
• At least one essay that incorporates at least one outside text
• At least 2 pages of reflective writing

Instructors need only bring those portfolios they wish a second or third readerπs opinion on.

Studentsπ final portfolios should have the following baseline contents to be considered for English 101 placement:

• Presentation-quality final drafts of at least three 3+ page essays
• Evidence of drafting, revision, and editing
• At least one essay that incorporates at least one outside text
• At least two pages of reflective writing

Instructors should bring all portfolio(s) they feel warrant an English 101 placement. Decisions to place students into English 101 are made collaboratively with at least one other English 098 instructor.
