Psychology Day is an afternoon event filled with scholarly and social activities. These will include presentations by an invited speaker, presentations by students (one from each of the CSU campuses), food, and a student poster session.

Psychology students from all four CSU campuses (Central, Eastern, Southern, Western) are invited to submit abstracts for posters to be presented as part of the 15th Annual CSU Psychology Day celebration, Friday May 4, 2012. Specific information on proposal submission and poster construction are contained in Poster Guidelines.

Participating in events such as this helps prepare you professionally. Graduate schools and employers look favorably on such experience. It is exciting to discuss your work with others in the field of psychology. Your name, the title of your presentation, and a brief abstract of your work will appear in a brochure of the program.

Students who have never attended a professional conference may be unfamiliar with poster sessions.

Preparing a poster:

  • Posters briefly describe projects that were done as part of undergraduate or graduate research courses, Master's theses, honor's theses, internship experiences, or literature review papers done as part of an independent study or class assignment.
  • Posters contain text as well as pictures, graphs, or other visual material that help explain their findings.
  • Students must be first author on all posters. Students should have the faculty member who supervised their project review and approve the abstracts before they are submitted. Only one poster per project will be accepted.

Poster sessions:

  • Posters are displayed in a large room and visitors walk around to view them. The authors stand by their posters and discuss their work one-on-one with the people who stop by and who may have questions and comments.
  • The author(s) of selected outstanding poster abstracts (one from each campus) will be invited to make a brief oral presentation during the Psychology Day session. In addition, there will be several prizes for outstanding posters.

uPDATED Deadline for submission:

April 23, 2012
