Important Information Regarding Parking for First Year Students
Southern Connecticut State University prohibits first-year freshmen residential students from having a car on campus. In the near future the university will begin construction on a new 1200-car parking garage. This project will prevent the use of a major commuter parking lot throughout the construction period and will reduce the total parking capacity of the campus during construction by approximately 280 spaces. Prohibiting new freshmen from having cars on campus will assist the university in meeting the essential parking needs of commuter students who must have parking in order to attend classes at the university.
During this time, the university is planning to expand its existing shuttle bus service as requested by students to Downtown New Haven and Hamden Plaza, to increase the routes and frequencies of existing shuttle bus services to Union Station, and to expand an already rich array of evening, late night and weekend social, recreational, and cultural activities and programs. Please contact the University Police for any questions regarding parking.
