NEW RESNET NETWORK IS NOW IN PLACE!

Great News! The conversion of the residential network is complete and all residence halls will benefit from the change.

The most noticeable change is that the Clean Access Agent will NO longer be required for wired Internet access. To use the network, simply connect your computer to the network jack/router, open a web browser and login with your windows username and password. Please note that the Clean Access Agent will still be required if you use the wireless network on campus. However, you may remove the Agent if you do not plan to use the SCSU wireless network.

Another major change is that all bandwidth will be automatically divided up equally amongst all residents. This means that your Internet speeds and experience should be very similar to that a home DSL connection.

We highly recommend that you protect your computer with the most up to date anti-virus software. If you do not have any installed, or your current version is expired, please visit the SCSU Share website (http://share.southernct.edu) to download your FREE copy of McAfee VirusScan Enterprise. Please note you should only have ONE antivirus program installed at a time.

It is also highly recommended that you keep your computers operating system fully up to date by using the mechanisms provided. For Windows users this means turning on automatic updates or visiting (http://update.microsoft.com). Macintosh users should run 'Software Update' by clicking the apple in the upper left section on their monitors.

More information about ResNet can be found at the OIT website (http://www.southernct.edu/oit ). Please direct your questions to the OIT Help Desk at (203) 392-5123.

Thank you.
