First-Year Student Leaders in Progress

The First-Year Student Leaders in Progress (F.L.i.P.) program offers first-year students (freshmen) an opportunity to explore leadership theories, develop leadership skills and practice leadership through programs, workshops and projects.
All first-year students are invited to apply to the program during New Student Orientation.

Students that are living on campus for the Fall 2011 semester will be allowed to move-in on August 22nd. They will join their classmates at the New Student Welcome Weekend on August 26th and 27th .
Students that are commuting in the Fall 2011 will be commuting to Student Leadership Retreat and then joining New Student Welcome Weekend on August 26th and 27th .
Schedule Overview
August 22nd
9am-12pm - Students living on campus in the Fall 2010 will move into their Fall residence
hall.
12pm- 3pm- Retreat registration open.
1pm- 3pm- Freshmen Leadership Program Mandatory Meeting
5pm- Dinner
7pm-10pm- Entertainment (optional)
August 23rd
9am- 6pm- Mandatory Programs/Workshops
6pm- 10pm- Dinner and Entertainment (optional)
August 24th
9am- 6pm- Mandatory Programs/Workshops
6pm- 10pm- Dinner and Entertainment (optional)
August 25th- This will be a day off. Please note that meals will NOT be provided on this day.
August 26th- All new students are required to participate in New Student Welcome Weekend activities. (9am- 6pm)
August 27th- All new students are required to participate in New Student Welcome Weekend activities. (9am- 6pm)
August 28th-All new students are invited to participate in the day's activities. (Not mandated but highly encouraged.)
Once the semester begins, the participants in the Freshmen Leadership Program will be meeting monthly (time tbd). In addition to meeting monthly, participants will be provided with an outline for the year which will include joining/participating in a club or organization, participating in service events, and some reading/writing assignments. While the program will be challenging, our first priority will be the academic success of every student leader.
