Important Information Regarding Parking for First Year Students
At this time Southern Connecticut State University prohibits parking for first year
freshmen residential students.
Students may request an exception to this policy due to extenuating circumstances.
Such exceptions may be made for verifiable medical circumstances or other compelling life circumstances. Beginning with the Fall 2013 semester, the university will also consider exceptions
for verifiable employment related reasons. For more information on the appeal process, please visit our website at http://www.southernct.edu/student-life/safety/parking/freshman-parking-waiver.html. Please understand that the availability of parking is extremely limited and requests
will be processed on a first come/first serve basis.
To offset the need for student parking, the university has expanded its existing shuttle
bus service as requested by students to Downtown New Haven and Hamden Plaza throughout
the weekend and offers shuttle bus services to Union Station. We also have also
expanded an already rich array of evening, late night and weekend social, recreational,
and cultural activities and programs through the university. Click here for more information about Southern's Shuttle Bus services.
The university also maintains a webpage dedicated to student transportation. Information on services such as the Zipcar car rental program, U-Pass transportation
pass, NuRides program and R.I.D.E.S. program can be found at http://www.southernct.edu/student-life/safety/transportation.html.

Please contact the Office of Residence Life or University Police for any questions
regarding parking.
