Child Care Partial Reimbursement Program for Children of Full-Time Student Parents
Deadline Date: Applications for the Fall '18 semester are due November 2, 2018.
The SCSU Division of Student Affairs recognizes the unique difficulties for many students who are also parents with young children. To help students who are struggling financially during the semester due to child care/babysitting expenses for their child(ren) under 12 years old, the SCSU Office of Student Affairs sponsors a Child Care Partial Reimbursement Program that offers a limit number of subsidies to eligible students.
- Demonstrate financial need as determined by the SCSU Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships (OFAS) based on the student’s filing of the completed Free Application for Federal Student Aid Form (FAFSA);
- Be full-time matriculated students (undergraduate students: 12 credits minimum; graduate students: 9 credits minimum) during the semester for which the student is applying for the partial reimbursement;
- Submit a written justification to the Dean of Students (maximum 500 words) explaining why this assistance is needed; and
- Complete and submit the online application form, along with a copy of the child(ren)’s birth certificate(s).
The application, copy of the child(ren)’s birth certificate(s) and justification must be submitted to the SCSU Office of the Dean of Students, Engleman Hall A 106 by the deadline dates announced for each semester. All applications will be reviewed and each applicant’s FAFSA status will be determined by the SCSU Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships (OFAS). The selected eligible students will be notified by email of their awarded partial reimbursement amount.
***If the student successfully completes the academic semester during which the partial reimbursement is sought, having attained a GPA of 2.0 for full-time undergraduate students and 3.0 for full-time graduate students, the student will receive that partial reimbursement.
