Citizens Police Academy
The Southern Connecticut State University Police Department is launching a Citizens
Police Academy, a program in which the campus community is invited to learn about
the duties and responsibilities of the department.
The Academy will begin Wednesday, Feb. 29 (see schedule below). Each session will meet from 4:45 to 6:45 p.m. in the Farnham Hall programming space.
Topics will include administration, Patrol Division procedures; Detective Division investigations and evidence collection; weapons; search and seizure; drug investigations; DUI; traffic enforcement; Connecticut laws and much more.
Participants will have the opportunity for role playing and a ride-along on patrol with the university police officers.
The Academy is being offered at no cost to participants and is open to Southern students, faculty and staff.
The dates for the Citizens Police Academy are as follows (all Wednesdays):
