LGBT: S.A.G.E. Center Get Involved
Get involved
You have found the desire to get involved with the LGBTA community. What remains is a matter of becoming familiar with your surroundings, testing the waters, and finding your own personal niche. In making an entrance into this new world, consider the following few examples:
- Check out a local community center
- Research various supportive and
social groups in your area - Attend an event
- Volunteer for a related cause
- Look into accepting religious centers. Religious fulfillment can help you in your journey
- Read LGBT publications
- Develop your residence hall room into a "Safe Zone"

The S.A.G.E. Center is deeply involved with the Intercollegiate Pride Coalition of Connecticut (ICPC). The ICPC is an alliance of LGBTQIA students from Connecticut's colleges and universities. It is a voluntary organization that serves to create a forum for dialogue and exchange of ideas in order to increase networking, organizing, programming and support among members. Students from our center attend ICPC meetings (about 4-5 times per year) in order to communicate and interact with other institutions of higher education. SCSU has been chosen to host the Spring semester meeting in late January of 2010. Visit our website again in December to find out more. Until then please click here to view ICPC's webpage.
"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed
citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the
only thing that ever has."
- Margaret Mead
