Dr. Troiano joined the Southern Connecticut State University community in July 2008.  With over 20 years of higher education and student affairs experience, Dr. Troiano is responsible for the leadership and direction of activities which enhance student success and promote student engagement, both inside and outside the academic classroom.

As Assistant Vice President and Dean of Student Affairs, Dr. Troiano is the primary advocate for student concerns across the campus.  In this role, he encourages students to become active participants in their development and to accept responsibility for their actions so they may enter the next phase of their life prepared to be good leaders and good citizens.

Dr. Troiano enjoys the challenge of working with diverse student populations, and reflects "to be true educators we must recognize the gifts and talents of each student while teaching students to respect individual difference."  He has adopted a holistic approach to student development and works to develop programs and service that educate students across many dimensions -- intellectually, spiritually, emotionally, physically, and socially.

Karen Morcaldi is the office supervisor of the Office of the dean of Student Affairs.  Karen manages the general daily operations of the dean's office and handles various paperwork, phone calls and correspondence of the dean's office. She has been employed at Southern since 1984.
