Festivals and Conferences

The Theatre Department actively participates in the New England Theatre Conference (NETC) and the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival (KCACTF).

 

NETC

In December 2006 the department's production of Pulling Apart received the Moss Hart Award for outstanding college production. Read more here. SCSU paid for twenty students to attend the two-day conference here in New Haven. Twelve students traveled to the fall 2007 conference in New Hampshire. They participated in workshops on a variety of performance and technical production topics, promoted SCSU to high school students at the college fair, and made contacts with industry professionals at the vendor expo.

KCACTF

Each year dozens of student actors, directors, designers and dramaturgs compete at the KCACTF regional festival. In recent years several have earned top honors at the regional level and have moved on to the national festival at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. Read about one here. And another here.
