Department Scholarship Awards
The department awards four modest scholarships each year to eligible theatre majors. Awards are announced in the spring, and recipients are presented at the Honors Convocation in May. There is no formal application process.
The awards all share the following criteria:
- Student must be a theatre major
- Student must be a sophomore or junior (junior only for Watts award)
- Student must have attended SCSU for at least two semesters
- Student's GPA for courses in the theatre department must be 3.0 or better
- Student cannot previously have received a departmental scholarship
Should there be no students meeting the above criteria and deserving of one of the awards as described below in any year, that scholarship might not be granted.
Peter D. Mann Award
Awarded to a student who has shown outstanding service and dedication to the department in technical production or design areas.
A. Richard Coakley Memorial Award
Awarded to a student who has shown outstanding development and talent in acting.
Grandma Gladys Memorial Award
Awarded to a student who has shown outstanding service and dedication to the department in acting or directing, or technical production or design areas.
Anthony Mark Watts Memorial Award
Awarded to a student who has shown outstanding service and dedication to the department in acting or directing, or technical production or design areas.
