Southern offers a comprehensive two-year pre-engineering program that prepares students for entrance into professional engineering schools. Pre-engineering students at Southern enjoy small classes and use of the University's extensive laboratory facilities in Jennings Hall. Like any engineering program, Southern's pre-engineering curriculum emphasizes chemistry, math, physics, and computer studies.

Every year, the University of Connecticut accepts a number of pre-engineering students from Southern into its highly respected engineering program. Of course, students may apply to any institution they choose, and many have been accepted to such schools as Georgia Tech University, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and Tufts University.
