Success as a pre-med student is a challenge. It takes brains, drive, and persistence. It also takes rigorous courses and knowledgeable advisers. But if you bring us the first three qualities, Southern can provide the rest.

Southern's Premedical Committee has made a science of helping motivated students intent on careers in medicine, dentistry, veterinary medicine, osteopathy, or chiropractic medicine. Experienced faculty advisers will provide you with one-on-one assistance in all stages of your pre-med education, from selecting courses to applying to medical school. The committee also offers encouragement, evaluations, and official medical school recommendation for qualified students.

The Premedical Committee prides itself on maintaining exacting standards of excellence among medical school candidates. And although most applicants major in chemistry, biochemistry, or biology, the committee will consider all qualified students. The committee has been so successful that in recent years, more than two-thirds of the students it has assisted have been accepted into medical, dental, veterinary, and osteopathic schools.
