The School of Communication, Information, and Library Science (SCILS) unites four departments -- Communication, Computer Science, Journalism, and Information and Library Science -- which are at the core of the information and technology revolution that is transforming the world.

Just as agriculture and manufacturing were the foundations of America's growth in the 19th and 20th centuries, information -- especially electronic information -- will be the catalyst for progress in America's 21st century -- the information century. The ability to acquire, organize, store, manage, and disseminate information in this new context will be an invaluable skill for professionals in any field. The School provides an interdisciplinary approach to managing the application of new technology to information studies.
