                R.I.D.E.S. PROGRAM

Stuck without a ride? Little or no cash on hand?  Find yourself in an uncomfortable situation and need a way out?  The R.I.D.E.S. program is there for you.

R.I.D.E.S. is a program designed to offer students a safe, responsible mode of transportation when needed.  It can be used for any reason with 'no questions asked.'  Cabs are available 24 hours a day / 7 days a week throughout the academic year including the winter and summer sessions.  Students may take a cab to and from any destination within a 50 mile radius of the SCSU campus.

Any student (full or part time, resident or commuter) enrolled in class at SCSU may use the R.I.D.E.S. program.  Call any participating taxi company.  Present your valid SCSU Hoot Loot ID card to the driver upon pick-up.  (Only 4 students may ride in a cab at one time.)  Payment can be made at a later time.

The payment is initially covered by the SCSU Student Government Association.  The student presenting their SCSU Hoot Loot ID card is responsible for the reimbursement of the payment to the Student Government Association within 14 days.  This can be done with their SCSU Hoot Loot ID card.

The taxi companies that are currently participating in the R.I.D.E.S. program are:

Heritage Taxi (Phone: 203-466-6666 )

and

Easy-One Taxi (Phone: 203-933-333).

REMEMBER!  BETTER SAFE THAN SORRY!

Drinking and driving is against the law.  Alcohol has many effects.  It slows down the central nervous system.  It compromises the senses including 'common sense' and lowers one's defense.  The danger and hazard of driving under the influence has the awful potential to cause serious injuries or death.  DON 'T BE NEXT !

Make use of this service when you find the need.  Again, R.I.D.E.S. can be used for any reason - 'no questions asked.'
