Question: How do I use removable media (floppy disks, CDs,
Zip disks)?
Answer: To read a removable
medium, double click on the appropriate desktop icon
. This will mount your
medium and show you the files on it (as shown here). IMPORTANT:
If you are using a floppy disk or a Zip disk, DO NOT FORGET TO UNMOUNT
before logging out. Changes made to your
removable medium are cached (stored temporarily on the hard disk), and
will not be written to your disk until you unmount it. Therefore
logging out before unmounting causes big problems. Also, if you do not
unmount your medium before logging out, no one else will be able to
mount that type of medium. To unmount a medium, right-click the
appropriate desktop icon, and choose Unmount from the menu (as shown here).
