Notes for the Annotations:
To read spoilers, highlight the text between [spoiler] and [/spolier].
The list of titles will change as more books are published, or as I eliminate titles that seemed to fit but turned out not to.
Crossovers appear under the names of both original authors. If more than 2 texts were crossed, I put the fan fic title under Various.
I often switch to initials for characters after using their names once.
As I read through my list of titles, I discovered a lot about myself as a reader.
My reading philosophy is this:
  • Life is too short to read present tense and/or pretentious pomo wankery.
  • Dialect that looks like a bag of apostrophes spilled onto the page is not worth the time it takes to translate it.
  • I have zero tolerance for Holmes stories that treat Watson shabbily.
  • Like the Lunts, I can bought but I can’t be bored.

Abbreviations and other terms in the annotations:
Meta: Usually this means that a passage in the book connects the original fictional narrative to its own real-life construction, or a winking reference to the real-life author of the original.
Mary Sue: A character who is perfect in everyway, usually loved by the hero, and often gives the impression of being an authorial avatar.
    MSS: manuscript
    OC: Original Character
Pastiche opening or pastiche intro: Refers to a common device in Holmes's stories that explains how the author came into possession of the manuscript.
    POV: Point of View
    RP: Real Person/People
JtR: Jack the Ripper. Yes, he is in enough PFF to have his own abbreviation
GRoS: Giant Rat of Sumatra. Ditto.
