TEXTBOOK:

Essentials of Cash Management, 7th Edition, 2001. Association for Financial Professionals, Bethesda, Md., USA.

COURSE OBJECTIVES:

There are two objectives to this course:

1)  To provide the student with the fundamental issues involved in treasury management.

2)  To prepare the student to sit for the Certified Treasury Professional-Associate examination administered by the Association for Financial Professionals.

NOTES:

1)  At the end of each class there will be a two minute drill quiz question on the material of the class.

2)  The Practical Project. At the start of the course, the students will be divided into several groups. Each group will be assigned a German industrial firm whose financial statements will be provided. The groups will analyze the Treasury accounts of the firm and prepare a written report of the groups’ findings. The questions to be addressed will be outlined in a separate handout.

3)  The company visit scheduled for 24 June will encompass a visit to a local firm and presentations on the way it handles treasury operations. This will give the students a chance to see the practical application of treasury operations as opposed to the theoretical of the textbook. This activity is mandatory for SCSU students attending the course and optional for Fachhochschule students.
